Badges are a great way to celebrate your interests. Wear yours with pride.

The flying gurnard (current name: Dactylopterus volitans) depicted in this plate was originally described by Linnaeus in the 10th edition of Systema naturae (1758). This species looks like it is 'flying' over the sandy bottom of the ocean floor, can use its pelvic fins as 'legs' when scouring for food, and can vary in colour intensity when threatened.

Size: 60 mm diameter

Format: Metal back with pin and safety catch secured within the badge casing,

Provence: Assembled on site by staff. The badges are made of plastic and metal components of unknown origin.

Producer: The Linnean Society.
